History
PiG Fest was founded in 2021 by Doug Swindell, his grandson Dylan, and Dylan’s best friend Aaron Rogers (no, not that Aaron Rodgers).
Being lifelong musicians, they all realized that they wanted to build something with the experience and education they had accrued over the years. Dylan and Aaron were both ACM@UCO graduates and had seen, firsthand, the prolific impact local music had on themselves and others. That’s why they founded Bison Tail Studios. A professional recording studio located close to the grounds of PiG Fest itself, at Rainbow Valley Ranch. However, they both knew that wasn’t enough. Cue the ideas of Gramps (Doug Swindell) merging with the ambitions of Dylan and Aaron.
“But have you ever actually, ya know, done a festival?”
The question all three were asking each other after breathing life into their vision; A two-day music festival on the 160-acre farm of Rainbow Valley Ranch. Located in the pecan grove at the heart of the property, figuring out the location was the easy part. Then came all the fun logistics and planning. But, by some miracle, they did it! And PiG Fest 2021 took place on a Friday and Saturday in June 2021. With a wonderful mix of genres, bands, singer-songwriters, and everything in between, the festival was a success! The (P)ig (i)n the (G)round that Gramps cooked and labored over was feasted on by over 250+ people while excellent tunes and vibes were enjoyed by all. Here’s the first lineup of PiG Fest designed by Gramps himself! We still have some posters if you’re interested in owning one!
ENTER: Chapter II: The Second Life of PiG
Our 2nd lineup was amazing! We went all out on this one and learned so much about the organization, advertisement, and production of something this scale. There were incredible highs (here’s looking at you Samantha Crain and Q standing on The Big Balls) and also some pretty low lows but truly an unforgettable experience all the way around!
We need more FREE shows
After our work on The Spark and Plug, we felt confident in our ability to record and film artists in their natural habitat. Punk on The Prairie was born and we had a blast. It was an excellent free show (if I do say so myself) and we released the entire thing for free to watch and listen!
This upcoming 4/20 is another free show! Midsommar Mosh! We hope to see you there, rocking out in the pit!
We focus on local, local, and local
It’s hard to be a local band and to keep pushing for years and years. The same can be said of any entrepreneur in general but music can definitely be taken for granted. We’re going to try our best to shine a light on those musicians and entrepreneurs from Oklahoma that have worked and worked for a chance to be seen. Have you ever told yourself, “I should go out to see more local shows” or “I should buy from my friends’ business more often” and it seems like the stars never quite align to stick to it? We want to be the answer you’re looking for. PiG Fest is a place anyone can come to, have a great time, and support a local Oklahoma brand in the process!
Keeping the Tradition Alive
We had an absolute blast at our first PiG Fest and we hope you’ll continue to enjoy it with us as the years go on! Let us know of any feedback you may have and remember to find Dylan, Aaron, or Gramps at future PiG Fest’s and definitely say hello. We post updates on our social media all the time. You guys have made us what we are today and we so greatly appreciate all the support we’ve received! THANK YOU for making us one of kind! Here’s to many more “Days of Damn Good Living!”
